Shocking news has broken in Germany on Saturday night: Wolfsburg’s 20-year-old midfielder Junior Malanda has died in a car accident.
The sad news has been broken by Bild, who have reported that Malanda was in the back seat of an SUV which police say was traveling at an excessive speed.
Crash happened at 15:35 German time.
Malanda, a Belgium U21 international, was meant to fly to South Africa tonight for Wolfsburg’s training camp.
During the accident, the car reportedly skidded during stormy conditions, flew over the guardrail and crashed into a tree. The vehicle landed on it’s roof.
Malanda is reported to have catapulted forward after the car hit a tree. He died instantly at the scene.
There were two other passengers in the car who were seriously injured and were hospitalised.
Junior Malanda came to prominence at the start of the Bundesliga season when the youngster missed sitters against Bayern Munch and then Frankfurt.
